Monday, December 13th -- Day Five

Seven more school days after today, but who's counting...

Period One: ELA 9
After some silent reading, we reviewed the format for writing a proper letter. Students then started a Christmas letter writing assignment. The draft of their letters are due for tomorrow.

Period Two/Three: ELA 20
Period Two was in the Computer Lab typing their Autobigraphies. Period Three saw a discussion of the poems read on Friday, "Before Two Portraits of My Mother" and "Graduation Evening". This was a good discussion; several good interpretations and ideas came up.

Period Four: History 30
We started by reviewing the events/occurences surrounding the Charlottetown and Quebec Conferences. We then discussed some of the external forces which helped lead us down the path to Confederation. Students were given a small assignment and extending activity to complete in regards to todays material. The assignment is due for tomorrow while the extensions will be due on Thursday.

Period Five: Math 7
The Unit Reviews were collected. We then looked at time zones around the world, and the differences in time being similar to integers. A small assignment was given using time zones as integers.

Period Six: ELA 10
In conjunction with a reading entitled "Letters from Vietnam", students completed a series of pre - reading and during reading activities. Once the letters had all been read, a couple of post - writing activities were assigned for tomorrow.

Period Seven: Math 7
A Practice Test was given on Unit Two material. The real test will be on Friday.
