It has been a couple of days since my last posting...I apologize
Period One: ELA 9
After some silent reading, the descriptive and narrative paragraphs that were assigned on Friday were collected. From that point, Lessons 7, 8 and 9 of Language Power were corrected as a group.
Period Two/Three: ELA 20
Time was given to complete Part B of the activities for the short story "The Metaphor" by Budge Wilson. After this, a short quiz was given on Chapter One of "To Kill a Mockingbird". This was not recorded as it was moreless a way for me to check who actually completed the reading as assigned. Chapter Two of "To Kill a Mockingbird" needs to be completed by tomorrow.
Period Four: History 30
After a short Current Events discussion, we talked about our responses to questions posed last day in regard to the fur trade in Canada. We then took down some notes that discussed the exploitation of both the land and people that came about as a result of the fur trade. Maps were then looked at to help illustrate and explain the manner in which the fur trade expanded which increased contact between First Nations and Europeans in what would become Canada.
Period Five: Math 7
A quick homework check was done to make sure that pages 8 & 9 were done as was assigned yesterday. Time was then given to complete Pages 12 & 13 of MathSense, #'s 1, 3, 8, 9, & 10.
Period Six: ELA 10
After ten minutes reading, those students who were absent yesterday (there were a few) were given Part One of "The Third Floor Flat" to read and complete some questions associated with it. Those that were here yesterday and completely finsihed the reading and stories were free to read or complete other homework.
Period Seven: Math 7
Some time was given towards completing the assignment given in Period Five. The use of Venn Diagrams was used to illustrate how some numbers are divisible by more than one number, but also some are not. The assigment given in Period Five and the Venn Diagrams are due for Thursday. Also a division quiz will be given on Monday, September 20th.
OTHER NEWS:
Congratulations to Jorden Cherewyk who represented our school well yesterday at East Central District Golf. Jorden finished in the middle of the 38 player field but presented himself in such a way that another coach at the event was quick to tell me how respectful and mature Jorden handled himself...well done.
The Norquay Flag Football League kicked off today as the Selects shut out the Nukem's 26 - 0.
