Period One: History 20
After a Current Events discussion, we reviewed the idea of the Allied Naval Blockade and then discussed the ways in which these activities impacted Germany at the time. We then took a look at the theatre's of war from World War I, those being the Western Front, Eastern Front, Italian Front and Gallipoli. The War at Sea was another theatre but this will be looked at more closely in the weeks to come.
Period Two: ELA 9
We started with some silent reading. Assignments were then collected based on yesterday's reading of the short story "The Jade Peony". A surprising number of students did not complete the assignment as it was given. It is imperative to keep up with the remainder of class as falling behind will only hurt the individual student. Students were asked to read Robery Fulghum's anecdote "The Mystery of Mysteries" for Period Seven.
Period Three: History 30
We reviewed the timeline that was to be completed for today that looked at important events starting with the Seven Years' War and ending with the War of 1812. The idea of responsible and representative governments was discussed that focused on the idea of more people lead to more worldviews, and greater tension and competition for power which allowed their voice to be heard. Today's handout entitled "Reformers and Oligarchies" can be found at mrhmorin.wikispaces.com, or by clicking on the assignment link in the top left hand corner.
Period Five: Math 7
The assignment from last class, P.29 Mid Unit Review was collected. We then looked at the use of graphing as a means of explaining and determining further information. A couple of examples were done as a class at which point Pg. 33/34 #'s 1 - 7 were assigned.
Period Six: ELA 10
Realizing we need to start making greater headway in terms of completing the novel "The Chrysalids" students were given the period to read ahead with no set limit as to how far they could or needed to read.
Period Seven: ELA 9
Following some silent reading we reviewed Fulghum's anecdote from this morning not so much for content, but rather they style in which it was written. Students were then asked to complete an anecdote of their own which is based on an experience from their life that has helped to shape them into the person they are today.
