Wednesday, October 6th -- Day Three

Period One: ELA 9
After some silent reading, we corrected the Language Power lessons that were assigned yesterday. With the remainder of time left in class students were asked to complete the rought drafts of their "I Am...." poem. The draft is due for tomorrow so we can start working our way towards the publishing stage.

Period Three: ELA 20
Students and I discussed the questions that were given based on Chapter's Seven & Eight of "To Kill a Mockingbird". The extensions were then collected. Students were asked to take some time to think of attributes, characteristics and behaviours they think make up a good father. Once they were given some time to brainstrom on their own, we shared our ideas as a class to create a large scale concept web. From here we discussed Atticus Finch as a father. We were all in agreement that he has a differning father style, but does this make him a bad father??? More to come in this area as we work our way through the novel.

Period Four: ELA 10
Things were planned but with school pictures taking place today, it seemed that either I or the class was out of the room so they were asked to read while they were here.

Period Five: History 20
Similar to Period Four, School Pictures conflicted with getting a whole lot accomplished so today's plan will carry over to tomorrow.

Period Six: ELA 10
After some silent reading, the legends the students wrote in seeking to explain the story behind the Monkey's Paw. The biggest issue jumping out was that several wrote the legend in one paragraph. As such, we reviewed the concept of a paragraph and were given two compositions to read, each of which appears as if it is one paragraph but there are clearly more. Students were asked to review these compositions and determine where the new paragraph should start. This assignment is due for tomorrow.

Period Seven: Math 7
We reviewed part of the assignment from Monday which I neglected to take the time to cover at that time. This should have been done then. We then added # 3, 4, & 5 of P. 28 to go along with the #1 & 2 that was due for today. Extra Math help will be available on Friday @ 12:30.
