Friday, November 10 -- Day Three

Period One: ELA 9
Slow gettiing her this morning as the roads were a little tricky this morning. Regardless a quiet morning as all that was assigned was questions for Chapters 2 and 3 of 'The Outsiders'. These are due for Monday.

Period Three/Four: Remembrance Day Service in the Gymasium. A big thanks to the RCMP, Legion and Cadets for being a part of our ceremony. Also, thanks to those studens who volunteered to read either their writing or the writing of others.

Period Five: History 20
We reviewed the highlights of last class; that being the terms of the Treaty of Versailles and the American rejection of this deal. We moved onto the cost of the war, in both human and financial terms. Students were asked to guess the cost in both cases. They were close to the human cost but nowhere close to the financial cost. We then started to look at the situation plaguing Russia at the end of the war. In order for this to occur, we need to go back to the turn of the 20th Century. This was done today as we looked at Tsar Nicholas II, the Russo - Japanese War, and the Russian Revolution of 1905 which included the events of Bloody Sunday. Students were assigned some questions on this material that needs to be done for Tuesday.

Period Six: ELA 10
We had a discussion about Alfred Tennyson's poem 'The Lady of Shallot'. This was a great discussion as a new idea that I had not considered before came up. Good job by all of the students. For Monday, students are to read and analyze Edgar Allan Poe's poem 'The Raven'.

Period Seven: Math 7
We put the finishing touches on the Unit One exam. Unit Two will start on Monday.

Have a super long weekend and if you must travel, be safe...
