Tuesday, November 30th -- Day Two

Hard to believe it is already the last day of November; the weather may feel like Christmas but the year has gone by too quickly.

Period One: ELA 10
After some silent reading, we discussed the endings that we individually wrote for Liam O'Flaherty's short story "The Sniper". I then read the actual ending to the story which revealed the man on the other side of the street was the sniper's brother!!! This led to a discussion on the challenges that situations like this present one with, regardless of whether or not it is your kin on the other side of the line.
Students were reminded that "My Great Adventure" is due on Friday. Students were assigned Theodore Thomas' short story "Test" which needs to be read for tomorrow

Period Two: History 20
Students were given the second of two periods to complete their Unit One review. Reminder that the exam is this Friday.

Period Three/Four: ELA 9
After some silent reading, we moved on and corrected the Language Power lessons which were assigned yesterday. It seems like reading instructions is starting to hinder our performance at times. Irregardless, after this an assignment was given on Chapter Seven of "The Outsiders". The questions are due tomorrow but not the extensions.

Period Five: ELA 20
This period was used to type one of either their essay on the theme of "To Kill a Mockingbird" which is due Friday or their Autopbiography.

Period Six: History 30
Following a Current Events discussion, we reviewed the material of last week, namely why Canadians started to grow weary of the Americans, yet still were aware of the fact that a relationship with our neighbors was important. All of this discussion led many at the time to start to examine the merits of unifying all of the colonies into one nation. As such we discussed some of the arguments associated with the creation of this nation, namely Macdonalds 'ideal' state and the merits of this state and those opposed to his ideas and their arguments. Students were asked to complete four questions based on a short reading for tomorrow.

Period Seven: ELA 20
Students were given the short story "A Visit to Grandmother". They are to read it and complete questions 1, 2, 5, 7, 8 for tomorrow.
