Tuesday, November 16th -- Day Five

Period One: ELA 9
Following some silent reading, Language Power lessons #22, 23 were corrected. For tomorrow students are to read Chapter Four of 'The Outsiders'.

Period Two/Three: ELA 20
As our reading of the novel 'To Kill a Mockingbird' is completed, we started watching the movie. Both periods were spent watching the film. Those who have not completed reading the novel, it is highly recommended that you do so as depending on the movie to succeed on the exam will be mighty difiicult.

Period Four: History 30
Following a short Current Events discussion we continued with our look at Great Canadians. As such students were given the period to research their chosen Canadian.

Period Five: Math 7
We started by reviewing yesterday's class which introduced integers. We then corrected the assignment from yesterday on Lesson 2.1. The concept of addition of integers was then introduced and Pg. 58/59 #'s 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11 & 12 were assigned. They are due for Thursday.

Period Six: ELA 10
We collectively brainstormed a list of individuals we are aware of who have overcome some sort of obstacle or challenge to achieve something noteworthy. This will lead into a research assignment at some point in the future. Students were then asked what they believed it meant to 'have faith'. After a short discussion, students were asked to read an essay by Christy Brown entitled "My Left Foot". This is to be read for tomorrow and will provide the students with a tremendous example of not only having faith but also of overcoming something to achieve things one might not think possible.

Period Seven: Math 7
Students were given this period to work on the assignnent that was given in Period Five.
