Wednesday, November 17th -- Day Six

Period One/Two: ELA 10
After some silent reading, we moved on to briefly discuss the story that was assigned for today, 'My Left Foot' by Christy Brown. We then moved on from this discussion to an assignment in which they were to answer some questions on the essay as well as write a speech as if they were nominating Christy's mother for Mother of the Year Award. The questions and the written speech are due tomorrow.
Students were also given an essay entitled "Paddle to the Amazon" which is the account of a man from Winnipeg who, with his 19 year old son canoed all the way to Brazil, over 20, 000 km in a little over two years. The essay, written as a series of journal articles highlights some of the struggles that the author and his son had to endure and overcome along their journey. Students are to imagine themselves going on an adventure of their choice, and write a series of journal entries similar to the essay read today which will highlight and discuss some of the challenges they feel they might face along the way.

Period Three: ELA 9
After some silent reading, an assignment (questions and extension) were given based on Chapter 4 of 'The Outsiders' which was to be read today. This assignment is due for tomorrow.

Period Six: ELA 10
Work/Reading/Catch Up period.
